Firozabad is a city in Uttar Pradesh, India. The ancient name of this town was Chandwar nager. The name of Firozabad was given in the regime of Akbar by Firoz Shah Mansab Dar in 1566. It is said that Firoz was send by Emperor Akbar to vanquish the thugs and bandits who inhabited this region. It is famous through out the world for its glass works. The economy of this city is altogether based around manufacturing bangles and other glass products.

By Train:Firozabad is well connected through train to long and short distanced destinations including Delhi, Howrah, Mumbai, Kanpur, Lucknow, Jaipur, Jammu Tawi, Amritsar, Jamshedpur, Patna, Aligarh, Agra, Etawah and Tundla.
By Road:Firozabad is connected to several bus services to the Western and Eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh state. Due to proximity to Agra and hence sharing the borders of Uttar Pradesh with Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh states several inter-state bus services also serve the city. Almost all major cities are connected with Firozabad through bus services. Intra-city transport typically consists of Rickshaws, Tangas, and 3-wheelers.
By Air:The nearest major airport to Firozabad is Agra Air Force Station (AGR / VIAG) which is about 45 km from the center of Firozabad.
This city is also known for people who took part in "Khilafat Movement", "Quit India Movement", and "Namak Satyagrah" and went to the jail during these national movements. Famous Urdu poet Munir Shikohabadi too was sentenced to Kala pani by the East India company government.
Firozabad is the premiere center of glassware manufacturing in India since 15th century. Although this town produces a large variety and range of glassware in India, it has become synonymous to Bangles. They come in thousands of designs, patterns and colors and are universally liked. At that time, apart from bangles, Jhad-Phanus or Indian Chandeliers was the major produce here. Apart from that, heavily decorated phials of Itra, Scents and other cosmetic products were also made. As time passed, the city started producing items like Bangles, Kangans and Kara etc for the general public. Today it is nicknamed Suhag Nagri because it fulfills all most the demand of bangles karas, kangans and other items of suhagins.
About four hundred glass industries are registered in Firozabad; these are making different types of glass products. They are using natural gas instead of coal. The 50 % productions of these units are exported to different countries.
